New Audio! – Author Jeffrey Pinyan Discusses the New Mass Translations

Nov 1st, 2009 | By HGC | Category: HGC News

Have you heard about the new English Mass translations being implemented during Advent 2011?

“Since Vatican II we have learned a lot about the use of the vernacular in the Liturgy”, says Bishop Arthur Serratelli, Chairman of the USCCB Committee on Divine Worship.  “And the new texts reflect this understanding.  They are understandable, dignified and accurate. ” Bishop Serratelli states that the new translations “make the text accessible to the listener” and that they “unearth the biblical and theological richness” of the Liturgy.

The International Council on English in the Liturgy is reviewing the changes and is expected to approve them in 2010.

Author Jeffrey Pinyan recently sat down with HGC to discuss the new translations in detail.  He wrote his book, “Praying the Mass: The Prayers of the People”, to explain the differences, the significance and the context of the new translation.
